Massive Congratulations to MMRPʻs Aude Pacini! @a_lda_p

On October 15th, our very own Aude flew to NYC and had the honor of receiving the award in education and research for French expats in the US at the Consulate of France in New York. This prestigious award was sponsored by the FASNY - French American School of New York, and Aude had the pleasure of engaging with their team throughout this remarkable journey.

Photo highlights of PhD Candidate @kirbyparnell15’s trips to Kalaupapa, Molokai. This summer, Kirby visited the beautiful beaches of Kalaupapa to assist the @nationalparkservice and @noaafisheries Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program with survey/monitoring efforts of the endangered Hawaiian monk seal.

In addition to their daily surveys checking in on mom-pup pairs, weaned pups, and pesky adult males, Kirby and @pinnipedlab PhD Candidate @b_rusch obtained acoustic recordings of seal vocalizations in-air.

We are pleased to announce a new collaborative publication between researchers from the @ioniandolphinproject from @tethys_research, @sarasotadolphinresearch, @sharkbaydolphinresearchproject, and MMRP.

In this study, we used drones and were able to quickly quantify the age-structure of the critically endangered bottlenose dolphin population in the Gulf of Ambracia, Greece, in a few days compared to long-term data. Our study highlights the accuracy of drone imagery as a rapid and reliable tool for quantifying and monitoring the status of wild dolphin populations.
